The 18mm T-bar
The Crittall aesthetic lives or dies on the sightline of the muntin bar. Ours is powder-coated aluminium at authentic 18mm width — matched from measured drawings of pre-war Crittall elevations. Wider than that and the door reads as pastiche; narrower and it reads as modern. 18mm is the proportion.

Slim T-Bar Muntins
18mm powder-coated aluminium bars in a 3×3, 4×4 or 5×5 grid — the authentic Crittall sightline in a modern thermally-broken frame.
Thermally-Broken Profile
Polyamide thermal break inside the frame lets us hit 1.4 W/m²K on a fully glazed door — U-values the original steel Crittall could never approach.
Matte-Black Finish
Qualicoat Class 2 powder coat in matte anthracite or true jet black — colour-fast for 20 years, no rust, no peeling, no repainting.
Full-Height Side-Lights
Matched side lights and transoms transform a single door into a full-height glazed threshold, with the entire elevation reading as one continuous grid.
PAS 24 Concealed Multi-Point
Multi-point hook locking concealed within the slim frame — the security specification the aesthetic often skips.

Is a steel-look door actually made of steel?+
No — ours are thermally-broken aluminium in a heritage profile with authentic 18mm T-bar muntins. Real Crittall steel doors rust, cold-bridge and can't meet modern U-value requirements. Aluminium gets you the same sightline without the drawbacks.
Can I have real Crittall steel doors?+
We can supply and fit genuine Crittall Fendor steel systems where a listed building or specific brief demands them — but they have poorer U-values, and need repainting every 5–7 years. We advise honestly on the trade-off.
How authentic does the aluminium look?+
At three paces you would not tell them apart from steel. The 18mm muntins, matte-black finish and grid proportions are drawn from measured Crittall drawings. Only if you tap the frame do you hear the difference.
Are they thermally efficient?+
Yes — 1.4 W/m²K on a fully glazed unit. Original steel Crittall managed around 4.0 W/m²K, which is why every listed-building steel door is fitted with secondary glazing. Ours don't need it.
