The warm roof
A fully-insulated tiled or hybrid roof takes a conservatory from a summer-only room to a genuine extension — 1.0 – 1.4 W/m²K on the roof plane, structural rafters engineered to take the load, an internal vaulted plaster ceiling, and downlights sunk into the pitch. The room reads as architecture, not as a glasshouse.
Overview
A room where light lives — used every day, not just in summer. From bay-fronted Victorian and square-plan Edwardian conservatories to contemporary lantern-roof orangeries and minimalist lean-tos, every project is designed around your home's architecture, orientation and the way you want to live in the space year-round.
Reinforced uPVC or thermally-broken aluminium frames · argon-filled A-rated glazing · self-cleaning solar-control roof glass · warm-roof or lantern options · reinforced dwarf-wall construction
Six Distinct Styles
Victorian, Edwardian, lean-to, gable-end, P-shape and orangery — each engineered to suit a specific era of home, elevation and use.
Warm Roof U-values of 1.0–1.4 W/m²K
Fully insulated tiled or hybrid warm roofs improve year-round thermal performance for conservatories across London and the Home Counties.
Solar-Control Glazing
Neutral- or blue-tint self-cleaning solar glass on the roof reduces summer heat gain by up to 78% while still delivering an A-rated whole-window U-value.
Underfloor Heating & Cooling
Integrated wet or electric UFH runs from your existing boiler or a heat pump; optional trickle ventilation and openable roof vents keep it usable in July as well as January.
Planning & Building Control
Most fall under permitted development — we handle any lawful development certificate, full planning or building regs submission on your behalf, as part of the service.

Practical answers.
Everything homeowners ask us about conservatories — survey, lead times, guarantees and coverage.
Do I need planning permission for a conservatory?+
Most conservatories fall under permitted development — a rear single-storey addition up to 3m (semi/terraced) or 4m (detached), under 4m tall, and not covering more than 50% of the original garden. We assess this at survey and handle any lawful development or full planning application on your behalf.
What U-value does a tiled or hybrid conservatory warm roof achieve?+
Our tiled and hybrid warm roofs achieve roof U-values of 1.0–1.4 W/m²K. Combined with energy-efficient glazing and a surveyed heating and ventilation plan, they improve year-round comfort across London and Home Counties conservatories.
Do conservatories need Building Regulations approval?+
Not usually — a conservatory separated from the house by external-quality doors (i.e. French, patio or bifold), with independent heating controls, is normally exempt. An orangery with an open connection to the house does require Building Regs and we handle the submission.
What's the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?+
A conservatory is predominantly glazed — walls and roof. An orangery has substantial brick piers or columns, a flat perimeter roof with a central glazed lantern, and reads as a room rather than a glasshouse. Orangeries tend to feel more integrated with the main house.
How long does it take to build?+
A typical conservatory takes 6–10 weeks from signed order to handover, with 1–3 weeks on site. Orangeries and larger P-shape builds run 10–14 weeks. Planning, if needed, adds 6–8 weeks upfront.
What roof options are there?+
Three: solar-control glass (traditional, maximum light), fully-tiled warm roof (best thermal performance, room-like feel), or hybrid — a tiled main roof with a central glazed lantern to keep the light in.
Can I replace the roof of my existing conservatory?+
Yes. Warm-roof conversions to existing conservatory bases are one of our most popular commissions — the space usually becomes usable in winter for the first time and typically takes 5–7 days on site.
What guarantee do you offer?+
10-year insurance-backed guarantee on our workmanship, plus the manufacturer's guarantee on frames, glass and hardware — transferable to a new owner if you sell within the term.
