- A fixed window on its own doesn't provide ventilation, so Approved Document F requires another means of purge ventilation in the room. On a rear extension this is usually satisfied by the adjacent bifold or slider. We check the room-by-room ventilation plan at survey.
- How do fixed windows differ from opening windows?
- Fixed windows have no gearing, hinges or opening gaskets, so they achieve slimmer sightlines and have fewer moving parts. They are ideal where another opening already provides ventilation.
